Nurse Ratched and McMurphy represent the opposite extremes in human character. Nurse Ratched has a big character and her nickname is ‘’Big Nurse”. As well as a sense of never-ending hatred and disagreement towards each other. During the entire novel, the disagreement between Nurse Ratched and McMurphy grows stronger and stronger.
It’s maybe important to describe the character of this two people.
McMurphy has the ability to manipulate people. His strong ability helps him overcome conflict and in many occasions over power Nurse Ratched. He knows what he must take to have the agreement of others people. He is charismatic and sexual too.
Nurse Ratched or ‘’big nurse’’ has a strong character too. She controls the institution where McMurphy is sentenced. Nurse Ratched is stern, controlling, and determined to quash all resistance to her authority. She imposes a lot of rules inside the hospital. She is like a dictator.
But McMurphy gets the better of the match up, he asks to lower the level music, refuses to take his medicines,... He makes all to don’t respect the rules.
